Synchromy’s 2012-13 Season comes to a close in June with “5uintet”, a program of new music for violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet and piano featuring works by guest composers as well as work created here in Los Angeles. This program will be performed twice, on June 15th @ 8pm at the Pasadena Conservatory of Music and again on June 16th, @ ?:00pm at MiMoDa Studio in Los Angeles.
The program includes works by Synchromy composers Eric Guinivan (Aspen Winds), Jenni Brandon (Dreams of the Birds)and Jason Barabba (Non mi porti a Funkytown?). They will be joined by guest composers Damian Montano (Dragonfly), Ed Martin (Trio) and David Lefkowitz (Surfer’s Guide for the Perplexed).
Synchromy’s Co-Music Directors violinist Iryna Krechkovsky and pianist Kevin Kwan Loucks will be joined by cellist Joo Lee, flutist Johanna Borenstein and Eric Jacobs on the clarinet. While these are the first Synchromy performances for Borenstein and Jacobs, Joo Lee has previously collaborated with the group in her capacity as Artistic Director of the Symbiosis Ensemble. Ms. Krechkovsky will be performing on the 1689 Baumgartner Stradivari Violin which she was awarded the use of in 2012 by the Canada Council of the Arts. Winners of this highly selective competition are given the responsibility to “travel the globe ... sharing with the world their love of music, their passion for performance and their exceptional talents.” Synchromy is honored to be a part of this mission.
