ABOUT ABOUT

Synchromy’s 2012-13 Season continues with “4uartet”, a program of new music for violin, viola, cello and piano featuring works by guest composers as well as work created here in Los Angeles. In this program, Synchromy will be showcasing works by several guest composers new to the group.

Kansan composer Forrest Pierce’s “Lord of June” is a vibrant string trio inspired by the green darner dragonfly, Anax Junius. Wyoming composer Anne Guzzo’s work “Things Bright” (also for string trio) was partially inspired by the busy lives of the chickens she was raising in her backyard. Italian composer Paolo Cavallone’s “Confini” is a solo piano work full of inventive brilliance and a great sense of humor. Adam Roberts' “Bell Threads” is an intense and thrilling virtuoso work for solo viola. The program is topped off by Synchromy Artistic Director Jenni Brandon’s profound “Meditations” for piano quartet which draws inspiration from Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 5.

Synchromy’s Co-Music Directors violinist Iryna Krechkovsky and pianist Kevin Kwan Loucks will be joined by violist Colleen Sugata and cellist Ross Gasworth who are both making their debuts with Synchromy with this program. Ms. Krechkovsky will be performing on the 1689 Baumgartner Stradivari Violin which she was awarded the use of in 2012 by the Canada Council of the Arts. Winners of this highly selective competition are given the responsibility to “travel the globe ... sharing with the world their love of music, their passion for performance and their exceptional talents.”  Synchromy’s programming is a perfect venue for showcasing her talents and the beauty of this extraordinary instrument.
